Obama visits Cleveland to marshal support for economic-stimulus
plan
By Mark Niquette
THE COLUMBUS DISPATCH
BEDFORD HEIGHTS, Ohio --
President-elect Barack Obama chose ailing Ohio in which to make
a strong plea yesterday for his multibillion-dollar spending
plan to jump-start the economy, including a push for "clean-energy"
jobs.
"The need for us to act is now; it's never been
more urgent," Obama said in a speech at Cardinal Fastener
and Specialty Co. in suburban Cleveland. "With each passing
day, families here in Ohio and across America are watching their
bills pile up and their savings disappear."

in NE Ohio stop
By Patrick O'Donnell
Plain Dealer Reporter

Bedford Heights- President-elect Barack Obama visited the factory
of the Cardinal Fastener & Specialty Co. on Friday to highlight
the kinds of companies and jobs he wants to boost with his multibillion-dollar
economic recovery plan.
On a final tour before his inauguration, Obama praised
the maker of bolts for wind turbines as an example of a business
that is both adding quality jobs and building the "green
energy" industry, both of which are major aims of the plan.
"The story of this company - which began building wind
turbine parts just two years ago and is now poised to make half
its earnings that way - is that a renewable-energy economy isn't
some pie-in-the-sky, far-off future," Obama told employees
and dignitaries in a speech on the factory floor. "It's
happening all across America right now. It's providing alternatives
to foreign oil now. It can create millions of additional jobs
and entire new industries if we act right now."
